Maison Chandesais presents a Burgundian range that places familiar regional appellations alongside more approachable wines. From the available selection, its focus is on classically styled, origin-led wines based on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Aligoté. The range includes Bourgogne, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, Mercurey, Gevrey-Chambertin and Meursault. Les Amandiers Fleurie adds a wine from Beaujolais, Burgundy’s southern wine region, where Gamay is the leading grape.
Burgundy is highly fragmented in both geology and style. The Côte de Nuits is particularly associated with red Pinot Noir; Gevrey-Chambertin is among its leading village appellations and commonly produces structured, dark-fruited and savoury examples. Mercurey, in the Côte Chalonnaise, is also especially important for red wine, often combining freshness with cherry fruit and earthy detail. The cooler, higher Hautes-Côtes de Beaune vineyards generally give lively red Burgundies with an emphasis on fruit and lift.

Chandrelle Bourgogne Aligoté offers a contrasting white expression: Aligoté is valued for its brisk acidity, light body and straightforward citrus character. Savoure Coteaux Bourguignons can, in keeping with that appellation, provide a regional and uncomplicated Burgundian style.
The red core comprises Coeur Rubis Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Les Guillottes Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, Mercurey and Gevrey-Chambertin. It moves from juicy, immediate regional reds to more serious village wines with greater structure and ageing capacity. Fleurie is a useful counterpoint: this Beaujolais cru, made from Gamay, is often floral, red-fruited and supple, while retaining enough depth to develop for several years in bottle. Maison Chandesais is therefore of particular interest to drinkers wishing to explore Burgundy through several appellation levels and grape varieties.
