About Gimonnet Gonet

Gimonnet Gonet is a Champagne house closely associated with Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a Grand Cru village in the Côte des Blancs. This narrow, chalk-rich area south of Épernay is one of Champagne’s benchmark sources of Chardonnay. The house belongs to the long local tradition of family estates whose wines draw their character from estate vineyards and from a clearly defined village origin.

The soils around Le Mesnil-sur-Oger are largely limestone and chalk. They retain moisture in dry periods while allowing vines to root into a cool, mineral subsoil. In Champagne’s northern climate, this is particularly well suited to Chardonnay, helping it retain its natural acidity and line. Wines from Le Mesnil often show a firm frame, citrus drive and a saline, chalky character. With time in bottle, they can develop notes of brioche, nuts and ripe stone fruit.

Blanc de Blancs is therefore the natural centre of the range. Cuvée Prestige Blanc de Blancs Champagne and Prestige Blanc de Blancs Champagne place Chardonnay at the forefront, favouring freshness, fine mousse and precision. Like all Champagne, these wines are made by the traditional method: a second fermentation in bottle creates the sparkle, while ageing on the lees contributes texture and savoury, bready complexity.

Rosé Brut Champagne Grand Cru ‘Le Mesnil-sur-Oger’ offers a different expression within the collection. Rosé Champagne generally gains its colour either from a small addition of still red wine or from brief skin contact with black grapes; the exact blend may vary by cuvée. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are the region’s other classic varieties alongside Chardonnay. Gimonnet Gonet will particularly appeal to drinkers seeking the lucid, chalk-shaped side of Côte des Blancs Chardonnay, with enough structure to serve beyond the aperitif.
