Curico Valley

Curicó Valley, located about 200 kilometers south of Santiago in central Chile, is nestled between the Andes Mountains to the east and the coastal range to the west. The region benefits from a Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny days and cool nights, influenced by mountain breezes and Pacific winds, which promote gradual and balanced grape ripening.

Soils in Curicó Valley are varied, ranging from alluvial clays and loams to sandy and gravelly parcels, allowing for an impressive diversity of grape varieties and wine styles. This terroir diversity gives winemakers the flexibility to cultivate both red and white grape varieties with distinct character.

Recognized as one of Chile’s oldest and most established wine regions, Curicó Valley is celebrated for its approachable, fruit-forward red wines and fresh, aromatic whites. Key grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Carmenère for reds, and Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay for whites. The area is divided into subregions such as Lontué and Teno, each contributing its own climatic nuances and wine profiles.

Curicó Valley is part of the Central Valley according to the Chilean appellation system, and wines from this region typically showcase ripe fruit, moderate tannins, and bright acidity. Most are designed for early enjoyment, although some reds have the structure to age for several years.
