Über Santa Rita
Santa Rita zählt zu den geschichtsträchtigen Namen des chilenischen Weinbaus. Das Gut wurde 1880 von Domingo Fernández Concha in Alto Jahuel im Maipo Valley südlich von Santiago gegründet. Der Name 120 erinnert an eine Begebenheit aus dem chilenischen Unabhängigkeitskampf: Nach der Schlacht von Rancagua sollen 1814 einhundertzwanzig Patrioten auf dem Gut Santa Rita Zuflucht gefunden haben. Die historischen Keller und das Anwesen verbinden Weinbau somit mit nationaler Geschichte.
Das Maipo Valley ist das Fundament des Hauses. Mediterranes Klima, trockene Sommer und der kühlende Einfluss der Anden bieten besonders Cabernet Sauvignon gute Voraussetzungen. Typisch sind Aromen von schwarzer Johannisbeere und Cassis, Kräuterwürze, Zedernholz und ein fester, meist geschliffener Tanninrahmen. Santa Rita bezieht Trauben zudem aus weiteren chilenischen Gebieten. Das küstennahe Leyda Valley steht für frischen Sauvignon Blanc und Pinot Noir; Rapel und insbesondere Colchagua bieten wärmere Bedingungen für Carmenère, Merlot, Syrah und rote Cuvées.
Stilistisch zeigt sich Santa Rita klassisch chilenisch: reife, aber klar gezeichnete Frucht, deutlicher Rebsortencharakter und eine zugängliche Struktur. Die Reihe 120 Reserva Especial ist ein Kernstück des Sortiments, darunter Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Merlot und Sauvignon Blanc. Medalla Real Gran Reserva steht für selektivere und meist strukturiertere Weine. Tres Medallas ist eine etablierte rebsortenbetonte Linie, während Secret Reserve rote Cuvées umfasst. Triple C gehört zu den bekanntesten Spitzenweinen und beruht auf Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc und Carmenère.
Das Sortiment reicht von frischen Weißweinen für den Alltag bis zu Rotweinen, die von einigen Jahren Flaschenreife profitieren können. Cabernet Sauvignon aus Maipo bleibt die wichtigste Referenz; Carmenère nimmt ebenfalls eine zentrale Rolle ein. In Argentinien ist die Unternehmensgruppe mit Doña Paula in Mendoza verbunden. Dieses Weingut gehört zur selben Gruppe, ist aber ein eigenständiger Erzeuger und nicht die Herkunft der chilenischen Santa-Rita-Etiketten.
